Event info:
Developing partnerships with the city's music scene.
Edinburgh is known globally as the Festival City, hosting a broad range of international events across the arts and science. What mutually-beneficial opportunities could develop from closer collaboration with local venues, promoters, musicians and labels throughout the year? And how can more partnerships be established?
The panel includes representatives from the Fringe, film, international, book, science and jazz & blues festivals and will cover a range of topics including:
The range of Edinburgh’s official festivals and what opportunities already exist (eg Unbound, Fringe Central, work opportunities for production staff).
What challenges exist and how these can be overcome (eg venue availability in August).
Developing year-round collaborations.
How local promoters, DJs, musicians and labels can participate in the festivals, including talks and curation as well as performance.
Audience members will be invited to contribute to the discussion and meet the speakers afterwards. The evening marks Born To Be Wide 16th birthday, which was founded in 2004 to bring together Scotland’s music scene and led to the creation of the Wide Days convention in 2010 and the Off The Record youth events in 2013.
