James Bruce (City of Edinburgh Council)

James started out working in the live music industry over 15 years ago, running RFR Promotions in Aberdeen, booking over 200 shows including Adele, Paolo Nutini, Foals, The Streets, Jamie T and many more. He moved to London in 2007 to join SuperVision Management (Franz Ferdinand/Kaiser Chiefs/The Vaccines/White Lies) and led artists to independent, major and publishing deals before leading Coca-Cola’s production team on the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay and then joining CrowdSurge/Songkick’s Business Development team and working on campaigns for Judas Priest, The Knife, Example, Primal Scream, Interpol, Liam Gallagher and many more artists. 

James relocated to Edinburgh in 2015, joining PCL Presents as a promoter and promoting artists including Idles, Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes, Julien Baker & Aldous Harding amongst others.

James has looked after cultural programming for The City of Edinburgh Council’s Cultural Venues including Usher Hall, Assembly Rooms, Ross Bandstand and Church Hill Theatre since May 2017 and is also a director of the Scottish Music Industry Association. He enjoys Star Wars, Aberdeen FC, running long distances and eating too much food.
