goNorth Extravaganza Announced
We are pleased to announce a special Born To Be Wide night on Thursday 30 May, dedicated to preparing for Scotland’s leading creative industries convention, goNorth.
The panel, which takes place at Edinburgh’s Electric Circus, will include Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Chasing Owls frontman Ben Sunderland and two of the event’s organisers, Alex Smith and Amanda Millen.
They will focus on how both bands and delegates can get the most out of the convention, which is free and takes place in Inverness on June 5-6. The discussion will provide advice on everything from meeting key speakers and promoting gigs, to practical tips such as where to get cheap accommodation.
This year’s goNorth, boasts panels on A&R and International Booking Agents hosted by Born To Be Wide. Other music-related seminars include publishing, getting compositions into television shows, the role of producers and a discussion with leading music supervisors. In addition, the programme also features a diverse range of talks relating to film, screen, book publishing and broadcasting.
“GoNorth provides a unique opportunity for the creative industries to come together,” says Born To Be Wide director, Olaf Furniss. “The event has led to acts getting radio play, festival bookings, syncs and record deals.”
