Award-winning songwriter and renowned producer John McLaughlin is set to join the next Born To Be Wide panel ahead of Thursday's Producer's Seminar.
Award-winning songwriter and renowned producer John McLaughlin is set to join the next Born To Be Wide panel ahead of Thursday's Producer's Seminar. John has written and produced several number one hits (including tracks with Westlife, Busted and 5ive) and has won the BMI Million Airplay Award, European Airplay Award and the Nordoff Robbins Living Legend Award.
The discussion will look at a variety of themes including the relationship between producers and artists, the impact of low-cost technology and why it is one of the most male-dominated areas of the music business.
Other speakers include Dave Eringa, best known for his work with the Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild guitarist Rod Jones, who co-owns Leith’s Post Electric studio and singer, songwriter and vocal producer Natalie DeLucia.

Jill Rodger, director of the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, is to join the Born To Be Wide panel exploring how music scenes differ according to genre and what they can learn from each other. Taking place at Edinburgh’s Electric Circus this Thursday, the discussion also includes Prides frontman Stewart Brock giving a pop perspective, Celtic Connections artistic director, Donald Shaw, and electronic musician/producer Sarah J Stanley (HQFU).
The seminar will cover themes including what promotional opportunities are available in each genre, the different income streams and how they differ in terms of artist development. It will follow an interview with Donald Shaw, focusing on his career as an award-winning composer, musician and producer, as well as his role in building Celtic Connections into one of Europe’s leading multi-venue festivals.
Rodger has worked for the Glasgow International Jazz Festival for 27 years and has been the event's director for the past 12. She has served on the board of the Scottish Jazz Federation, Scottish Music Industry Association and the Jazz Services National Touring Panel.
“This is a great opportunity to get tips from some really diverse voices working in different music sectors, as well as a unique insight from one of traditional music’s leading figures,” says Born To Be Wide founder Olaf Furniss.
Following the seminar, panelists will play a selection of their favourite music and hang out with the audience.
