John Langford joined Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC) in April 2013 as Director of Concerts, Events and Ticketing.  As a consequence of Peter Duthie moving to Chief Executive, he has assumed a wider responsibility, which now includes Sponsorship/Partnerships, Corporate Hospitality and Marketing under the broader title of Live Entertainment.

John’s key role in the SECC is to develop strategies and manage plans that drive revenue in the live entertainment sector across all SECC venues.  This includes overall responsibility for client relationships (promoters, event organisers, sponsors and corporate hospitality) and customer relationships (through ticketing and marketing services).

He has an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Business from WITS University in South Africa and an MBA in Strategic Marketing from the University of Hull.

John relocated to Glasgow to join the SECC from Cape Town, where he worked for eight years as the Chief Operating Officer at BIG Concerts (South Africa’s premier live entertainment company  – and consistently rated in the world’s top twenty concert promoters by volume of tickets sold).  Prior to this, he worked in radio management at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (equivalent to the BBC).
